What Is An Audit?

An audit is a systematic and independent examination of books, accounts, statutory records, documents and vouchers of an organization to verify the financial statements and non-financial disclosures. An audit can apply to an entire organization or might be specific to a function, process, or production step, and might include an on-site verification, such as inspection or examination.

What Is Internal Auditing?

According to The Institute of Internal Auditors, Internal Auditing "is the activity that helps an organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes".

What Does An Internal Auditor Do?

Internal auditors analyze the company's risks, strategies, financial controls, and performance, as well as how these are implemented. In essence, the end result of an Internal Audit is to add value and improve an organization's operations.
