There are few people who don’t at sometime complain about their boss or those who manage their working lives. In a perfect world, managers would be well… perfect. But they’re not - and just as managers have to learn to manage - those who are being managed need to learn to manage upwards!
Because most of us will have multiple, if not many bosses over our lifetime. A single bad working relationship can derail years of hard work, yet a good working relationship can even accelerate careers.
Managing upwards can make not only your life smoother, but cause you to be more productive and perhaps even more likely to be promoted. One thing for sure that learning to manage your boss will cause, is that going to work becomes a lot easier and more pleasant! For both you and your boss!

Teri Morning, SPHR, has over 15 years organizational development and teaching experience in a variety of professional fields for both profit and non-profit companies.
In addition to a MBA, Teri also has a Master’s degree in Human Resource Development with a specialization in Conflict Management, is certified in mediation skills, is qualified as a Myers-Briggs practitioner, and holds the SHRM certification of a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
